California Family Fitness and Wide Open Walls

We love being a part of the vibrancy of Sacramento's Downtown community. Anyone who has visited our Downtown location on K Street knows what a unique addition it is to the Cal Fit Family. With a central location, four floors of equipment and amenities, plus a rooftop with what may be the most scenic urban basketball court in the city, it's a happening place! It's about to get even more exciting as our walls become works of art during Wide Open Walls 2019, from August 8-18.

Wide Open Walls was born in 2016, with a mission to promote diversity through artistic expression. The annual festival, held every August, brings local, national and international artists together to transform our region with amazing street art. Wide Open Walls has brought over 80 works of permanent art to Greater Sacramento, and we're thrilled that two of our Downtown Cal Fit walls will be featured murals this year.Jose-Di-Gregorio-WOW

During the month of August, we invite you to visit our Downtown location to view the art in progress and explore Sacramento to find other works of art, too. We'd also like to introduce you to the talented mural artists who will be transforming our walls.

AlifutrellA native Californian, Ali Futrell lives here in Sacramento. She has a Painting and Design + Technology degree from the San Francisco Art Institute. Ali enjoys working with multiple mediums such as painting, drawing, digital design, and collage. She explains that her art, "Expands on ideas revolving around beauty, gender, and the inner ego. I enjoy the process of working at a large scale whether it be a 7 ft. painting on canvas or a 60 ft. mural on the side of a building."

Charmaine-OliviaCharmaine Olivia is an artist based in Los Angeles. Her work is as colorful as her personality, and is inspired by spirituality, mysticism, and mythology. Charmaine tells us that, "I am aware that there is more to this physical world than we can see with our eyes, so I use painting as a means to explore these other dimensions of mind and thought." Through her paintings, she seeks to explore who we are as conscious beings in the universe and the role color, emotion and self-discovery play in living a harmonious life.

We invite you to join us at these exciting events during the Wide Open Walls Festival.
