How did you get started teaching Zumba?
I got started teaching Zumba when I took over the Aerobic Fitness program at Granite Bay High School. I wanted to learn a fun way to work out and I thought the kids would enjoy Zumba. I got hooked on Zumba after my first few classes and thought about how much fun it would be to teach. After I got certified to teach Zumba, the program really started to take off at the gym. I got into teaching Zumba when it was pretty new and fresh at the gym. People always said its popularity would die down, but I still don’t see that happening. It’s just so much fun, it’s truly like a fitness party.
How do you stay active outside of teaching?
I stay pretty active outside of teaching at CFF by teaching math and PE at Granite Bay High school. I also stay busy with my family, I enjoy watching and supporting my 2 teenage boys play baseball.
What is your favorite song for class?
My favorite song changes from time to time, but right now my favorite is “Worth It” by Fifth Harmony.
What do you do when you are not teaching?
If I’m not teaching a class at CFF, I can be found taking a few classes here and there; I do love a good spin class. But mostly I just simply enjoy spending time with my family watching and playing baseball. We love to watch a good Giants game, we especially like it when we can get away and make it to a game at ATT park. I also enjoy spending time with our family’s Olde English Bull Dog, Babe.
Who was your favorite teen idol when you were a kid?
I hate to admit this, but I loved the Bee Gees when I was a kid. I have always loved music and disco music still holds a special place in my heart.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I always thought I was going to be a High School basketball coach when I grew up. I actually coached for about 10 years and then my plans changed when I had kids. Now I’d rather spend time with them and watch them play sports.
