This year, give your mom (or anyone you love) the gift of health! We've put together a list of ways to to honor, pamper, or show love to a mom that will help her improve her health or well-being. Better yet, we made sure there are things on this list that will fit any budget.
Fix her a nutritious meal. If mom is the one who fixes most of the meals at your house, she'll be thrilled to kick up her feet while someone else does the cooking! Try whipping up some whole grain buckwheat pancakes for brunch, or serve an al fresco dinner with these yummy (and easy!) salmon and veggie packets.
Take away Mom's aches and pains. Gift her with a session or two of cryotherapy at Cal Fit. Cryotherapy is currently utilized around the world by numerous sports teams, chiropractors, and physical therapists to treat muscle aches, increase recovery time, recover from surgeries, and reduce pain. It can also be used for body contouring. Set up an appointment for mom and let her decide!
Do a little meal prep for a mom. Busy moms have busy mornings. Use this recipe to mix up some delicious, grain-free granola that she can eat on the go. Or, it makes a yummy snack for hikes and cheering on the kids at games.
Help Mom spruce up her yard or entrance. Mother's Day is the perfect time to add some floral decor to Mom's outdoor space. Gift her with plants for her yard, or blooming containers she can set just outside her entry. Even veggies can be grown from small containers, given the right care. And just a note: if you give mom plants, it doesn't hurt to pitch in to help her get them in the ground!Pamper Mom with a homemade sugar scrub. This gift is inexpensive and easy to make--definitely kid friendly! Using some easy-to-find ingredients (they may already be in your pantry), make a scrub that smells good and works wonders to soften skin naturally. (The recipe we linked to above even includes a cute printable gift tag).
Enjoy a workout with mom. Think it would be fun to enjoy a mother-son or mother-daughter workout? We'd love to help! Along with personal training, Cal Fit offers small group training. For those with kids who are a bit younger, we offer Family Yoga at several of our locations, typically on Sunday mornings. Support your mom on her fitness journey by joining her for a stretch or sweat session.
Treat her with a special guilt-free dessert. Instead of sabotaging Mom's diet, make her this delicious Paleo Chocolate Cake. Designed for clean eating, it's both gluten and dairy free, but full of chocolatey goodness!
Notes of appreciation and love. A heartfelt letter expressing thanks to the woman who has made an impact on your life is one of the best gifts you can give. There's something extra special about words of affirmation that can be held and read over and over again. Showing gratitude has benefits for both the person offering and the person receiving. Grateful people experience fewer aches and pains and report feeling healthier than other people, according to a 2012 study. And feeling loved and appreciated contributes to feelings of well-being and happiness, which in turn improves overall health.
