How Weight Loss Became Crucial
In 2012, I injured my ankle which resulted in multiple surgeries. My spirit was torn and I became depressed. I was in excruciating pain with every step I took, so I made every excuse to not get off of the couch.
As a result of that, I gained over a hundred pounds and lost my self-esteem in the process.
Four years later, I noticed it was getting harder to do my normal daily activities. I also had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and pre-diabetes. My clothes no longer fit.
I woke up one day and realized that if I didn’t start making positive changes, I was only going to get bigger, have more health issues, and possibly lose my life.
Group Fitness Offers Options
Fast forward to 2017 -- I am now at California Family Fitness five days a week with my daughter who is my support system. I take Aqua Aerobics, Yoga, and Zumba classes, and instructors are always able to provide modifications for specific exercises if needed.
The environment at Cal Fit -- whether in group fitness classes or out on the floor -- has always been very welcoming, and employees are caring and eager to help.
I now feel more motivated knowing that I have the tools available to lead a healthier life.
I have learned to listen to my body and to overcome weight loss challenges. It has been a year since becoming a Cal Fit member -- I’ve lost 60 pounds and 5 dress sizes!
Inspired by Weight Loss Success
This journey has been difficult and amazing. I have seen changes in my body that I didn’t know were attainable, and fellow Cal Fit members have been very supportive and encouraging along the way.
People who I have never talked to approach me to say that I am an inspiration to them, and that watching me accomplish what I have throughout the year has made them more motivated to work towards their own fitness goals.
When asked how I do it, I tell them that if you have the motivation and the drive to accomplish your goals, you will do whatever it takes to reach them.
