Looking for Motivation

I joined Cal Fit, eagerly, in the summer of 2002. I had every intention of going regularly. I would go for a while and then stop…and then go…and then stop. I never cancelled my membership because deep in my heart, I knew it was what I needed. I also wanted my kids to grow up with the availability of the gym. I wanted to use the gym; I just wasn’t motivated.

Fast forward to late 2014. My weight had crept up to 154 pounds, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, and my daughter and her boyfriend announced their engagement. There was the motivation! First of all, I wanted to LIVE to see them get married. And, frankly, every photo anyone had taken of me for the last fourteen years, I had hated. I know this is vain, but I wanted to enjoy looking at my daughter’s wedding photos without blurring me out.

Beginning the Weight Loss Journey

That was the beginning of my real journey with Cal Fit and a very important journey in my life. By the time the wedding took place, I had lost fourteen pounds on my own. I needed to lose more and I couldn’t do it alone. For me, going to the gym was really intimidating. Everyone seemed to know what to do. I knew that if I didn’t get help, I would stop going.

I was serious about making changes; I needed training and accountability.

I’m a single parent and a full-time teacher. I am not made of money. I realize that when you look at the cost of personal training, it could seem daunting. However, the benefits far outweigh the cost. I feel so much better. I no longer need the blood pressure medication! Plus the joy of knowing that I am, for the first time ever, investing in my long-term health, is so rewarding.

Real Results from Personal Training

I’ve lost a total of thirty-four pounds and have kept it off for over a year.

By working with my personal trainer, Bruce, I have gained a physical confidence that I have never had.

I’m stronger than I have ever been and my balance is getting better. I’m eating healthy foods and my immune system is stronger as well.

Having a trainer to work with encourages me to push myself to a level that I know I wouldn’t do on my own. Even though I know our sessions are going to challenge me and be tough, I look forward to them and how they will benefit me. On the days that I work out on my own, I walk into the gym with confidence. I know what I need to do and how to do it. Working with my trainer has completely changed my life.
